The Importance of Organic Turmeric

Understanding the importance of organic turmeric. The amount of curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) is highly variable (even in supplements.)  It’s highly reported that non-Organic Turmeric is frequently lead-contaminated. One study from India indicates that over 99% of local turmeric maybe lead-contaminated possibly because traders adulterate turmeric powder with coal tar dyes or lead chromate to mimic the vivid saffron color.

In Yanbaru the northern region of Okinawa’s main island, the deep forests are consistently free of environmental pollution. The longevity of the Okinawan people is very well known. The superior quality of Turmeric is likely attributed to the very rich soil in which the plants grow.

The Pristine Organic Turmeric of Okinawa

Ukon TurmericThe vast majority of Turmeric in the world comes from the variety called Curcuma Longa also known as Autumn Turmeric and is not Organic Turmeric. This root is not expensive, it’s very rich in Curcumin and grows throughout South East Asia. But this type of Turmeric is also not very rich in minerals nor essential oils.

It is the much rarer and expensive Spring Turmeric (Curcuma Aromatica Salisbury) that has NINE times more minerals and essential oils and is showing amazing properties and is one of most highly prized varieties of Organic Turmeric in the world.

Most people think that just eating turmeric of any kind is enough to guarantee good health results. Modern science has demonstrated to us, in laboratory, that Curcumin is lipo-soluble, absorbed into the bloodstream if in the food (or in the body) there is some form of FAT.

Just any kind of Turmeric won’t work because our body absorbs only 2-3% of it. However, since the year 1000 A.D. the English discovered that mixing Turmeric with Black Pepper helps increase the Curcumin into the blood to about 45%. Recent scientific discoveries (in the past 20-30 years) found that adding Piperol (the active principle coming from the essential oils within the Ginger roots) boosted absorption of the Curcumin up to a whopping 95%!

And that’s why, in ancient times the Spring UKON was taken with the Autumn UKON… the essential oils greatly increase the rate of absorption!  But Curcuma Aromatica Salisbury also known as Spring Turmeric, Haru-Ukon or Wild Organic Turmeric is even far more important than that!

The branch of biomedical science that is called immunology covers the study of the immune system. The immune system is what fights the pathogen attacks within out bodies. It deals with autoimmune diseases (e.g. Lupus, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis), immune deficiency (AIDS),  hypersensitivity (allergies) and transplant rejection.

Until recently scientists thought  that Spring Turmeric was good simply as a  herbal remedy (I get ill, I’ll take it and afterwards I’ll get better) used in cooking more than medicine.

However, studies conducted by Dr. Yoshinari Matsui tell us that: “Curcuma Aromatica Salisbury usually classified as a food, by far surpassed pharmaceuticals in terms of enhancement of immunity with most diseases being suppressed by IMMUNOPOTENTIATION in about 3 months”  What scientific studies are telling us is that Haru-UKON (Wild Organic Turmeric) helps the body protect itself by making the immune system stronger and more resistant against attack,  working therefore as a preventative measure as much as a curative one.

Why Organic Okinawa Turmeric is so Highly Sought After!
.

The island of Okinawa is mostly made of coral and shell creating the most perfect environment for growth of mineral-rich plants.

Okinawa has ideal climatic conditions with temperatures ranging from 20-30 C/68-86F, 203.7 cm /80.2 inches of rainfall yearly or 16.98cm / 6.68 inches monthly and plenty of sunshine.

For thousands of years the maritime trading traditions of the Okinawa islanders helped select, source and improve the very best varieties/strains of turmeric from all of South East Asia.  Parts of Okinawa remain an untouched tropical paradise a turmeric growing environment that cannot be duplicated.

In the uncontaminated forests of Yanbaru in northern Okinawa 107 farmers are provided with an organic hand-made fertilizer called “EM Bokashi” (consisting of a mixture of rice bran, charcoal and recycled vegetables.)

In other words, the land where the Yanbaru Organic Turmeric grows has no pesticides, no dangerous chemicals, no insecticides with complete control of the quality of the product resulting in an extremely high grade of turmeric with demand for the Okinawan Turmeric exploding all over the world.
